I agree… the really bent serving arm would encourage a lower ball contact point but with potentially more power (more easily) and a risk of rotator cuff extension problems. Just my two cents. When it’s good it doesn’t hurt and there is good height and it feels so much more effortless. The toss is all… put it right and you have to hit it right… and it just works. Generally it is very relaxed. IMHO Federer one of best relaxed serves. Nothing dramatic… accurate… and with power.

HI Andrew, I am going to come out with a full serve course soon but for now you can do the continuous serve drill that I show with the woman pro in another video. Tou can also hold the trophy position.

Hi Jeff, I sent you a note yesterday about my serve and then I found this blog/video and it was exactly what I was asking about. The elbow drop. You mentioned some drills to help correct this and can you show those or talk about it? Thanks, Andrew

I want to learn a straight arm forehand video, the biggest forehands on tour are straight arm, federer, nadal, verdasco. it creates more leverage, more torque and all in all a better looking shot. please consider making a video on this, your THE BEST teacher on youtube by far, just found out about you today and have almost viewed every video you have up. Thank you.

My serve was amazing then suddenly i start double faulting. I don’t understand what i’m doing wrong. And its all of a sudden is really hard for me to concentrate while serving. Any tips?

  • By TennisCoachTV, March 31, 2013 @ 9:20 pm

Yes the secret is relaxation….all the best players and athletes have it

  • By albesca, March 31, 2013 @ 9:26 pm

Yes, i’ve seen….thank you Jeff ..i ‘ll work on it. There isn’t angle between shoulder line and hips line in my serve and that left tilting when i land .. i seem it happens because I do a forced jump ..instead to use the legs as a trunk sustain . What do you can say about the raquet drop after the trophy pose ? The raquet drops down passively due the shoulder relaxation ?

    Thank you
    Ciao
    Alberto

  • By TennisCoachTV, March 31, 2013 @ 10:16 pm

Ok Alberto…. you want to look to get more shoulder turn, you have less than Murray…

The big thing tough is your posture when you land…you are more bent over and your right leg is bent at impact…. practicing hopping on your left leg wehn you land with more upright posture…. i hope this helps
